Who should take extra care? Acupuncture may need to be adapted, postponed or occasionally avoided depending on your health. Please tell your practitioner before treatment if you are pregnant or may be pregnant, take blood-thinning medication, have a bleeding disorder, pacemaker or implanted electrical device, weakened immune system, active infection, open wounds or significant skin problems, have recently had surgery, or have a history of fainting with needles. Pregnancy or taking blood thinners does not automatically mean you cannot receive acupuncture; an individual assessment may be required. Every appointment begins with a consultation to assess suitability and personalise your treatment. Acupuncture is a complementary therapy. Individual responses vary, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed. It should not replace appropriate medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
